The Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity is a declaration adopted by the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) at its thirty-first session on 2 November 2001〔(Office of the United Nations High Commissioner of Human Rights 'Universal Declaration of Cultural Diversity' webpage )〕 This Declaration is constituted by 12 Articles; Article 1 titled "Cultural diversity, the common heritage of humanity" states that "As a source of exchange, innovation and creativity, cultural diversity is as necessary for humankind as biodiversity is for the nature. In this sense, it is the common heritage of humanity and should be recognized and affiemed for the benefit of present and future generations." Article 6 affirms the freedom of expression, media pluralism and multilingualism. And Article 12 defines on the role of the UNESCO. ==See also==
